A manufacturing company in the Greater Cincinnati, OH is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their accounting department and drive financial excellence across operations. The ideal candidate will combine manufacturing accounting expertise with outstanding leadership abilities to guide the team and optimize financial operations in their production-focused environment.
Position Overview
As Manufacturing Accounting Manager, you will oversee all accounting operations, manage a team of accounting professionals, and serve as a key advisor to senior management on manufacturing costs and financial performance. This role requires a strategic thinker who understands manufacturing processes and can balance technical expertise with people management while ensuring operational efficiency. Core Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cost accountants, general accountants, and clerks, ensuring performance metrics are met and providing training opportunities.
Oversee manufacturing accounting operations, including cost accounting, inventory (raw materials, WIP, and finished goods), variance analysis, and job costing.
Manage bill of materials (BOM) maintenance, product costing, and ensure accurate production reporting.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement reviews.
Lead the annual budgeting process, focusing on production costs, and coordinate with external auditors for compliance with regulatory and GAAP standards.
Collaborate with Production and Operations teams to optimize costs, improve efficiency, and drive process automation initiatives.
Conduct financial analysis for strategic decision-making, including make-vs-buy assessments and tax planning compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing environment
2+ years of management experience leading accounting teams
Strong knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing operations
Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Experience with manufacturing ERP systems
Excellence in staff development and team leadership
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
