Tonix’s infectious disease pipeline consists of a vaccine in development to prevent smallpox and monkeypox, which also serves as the live virus vaccine platform or recombinant pox vaccine platform for other infectious diseases.

Position Overview

Tonix is seeking a VP, Marketing effectively developing our strategy for our soon to be submitted product in the fibromyalgia market. This position would be responsible for crafting the product positioning, messaging and branding. This position would also, over time, be responsible for team expansion. This is a fast-paced, challenging position that offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. This role is an exempt (salaried) position that will report directly to the EVP, Commercial and be based in Tonix’s Chatham, NJ office.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives and growth targets
  • Oversee all marketing activities, including marketing communication/messaging, product marketing, market research, digital marketing, public relations and customer marketing
  • Build and lead a high-performing marketing team, providing strategic direction and mentorship – recruiting, developing and retaining a high-performance commercial organization
  • Collaborate with all functional departments to ensure effective product launches and market penetration
  • Conduct market research and commercial data analysis to identify market trends, opportunities and competitive landscape
  • Develop and implement effective branding and positioning strategies in the fibromyalgia community
  • Provide guidance on clinical claims and publication strategies
  • Manage and optimize marketing budgets to ensure efficient allocation of resources
  • Measure and analyze marketing performance metrics to assess ROI and identify areas for improvement
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, tradeshows, and other events
  • Develop meaningful relationships with key customers and KOLs
  • Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork
  • Perform ad-hoc work/special projects to support Tonix on various business initiatives

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new team members
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • If necessary, handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Contributes to performance and compensation decisions such as: merit raises, bonuses, and promotions

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in related area and at least 15 years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotech commercial marketing experience
  • Advanced degree is preferred
  • Knowledge of pain market and fibromyalgia is a plus
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques including brand planning, selling, and negotiation skills
  • Strong functional competence in marketing
  • A proven command of classic pharmaceutical/biotech marketing disciplines and techniques, such as market segmentation, market research, advertising and promotion, competitive analysis, pre-launch work, and key opinion leader outreach is required
  • The ideal candidate will likely be a Vice President level executive in a small to medium-sized specialty pharmaceutical or biotech organization
  • Demonstrated marketing leadership experience with specialty pharmaceutical products
  • Product launch experience, including pre-launch activity and subsequent in-line marketing of launched brands.
  • Experience in planning and forecasting brand launches, ongoing brand/product performance evaluation, pricing, promotion, and communications. The latter will include Public Affairs, Public Relations, Advertising, Advisory Boards and Key Opinion Leader relationships.
  • Experience in pre-launch, launch and in-line sales and marketing management activities
  • Ability for travel 25% of the time

Compensation & Benefits

Annualized base salary ranges from $250k to $350k plus target incentive; actual salaries will vary and may be above or below this range commensurate with several factors including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
