POSITION TITLE: Digital Marketing Manager
REPORTS TO: EVP of Marketing
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Digital Marketing Manager at Precept is an essential member of the Marketing team. This person brings thought leadership and technical expertise to all aspects of digital marketing, including email & marketing automation, paid media, social media, web & app development, UX design. The Digital Marketing Manager serves as a partner and resource for the rest of the department and the ministry and works closely with peers and leaders to understand business needs and build appropriate strategies and tactics. The Digital Marketing Manager is a strategist with a keen eye for detail, able to conceptualize a project, set standards for the team to execute to, and understand what’s working/not and why. This role sits between Marketing and IT and will advocate for technology and communications best practices within both departments. This person is a self-starter and ideator, quick to bring ideas to the table that address Marketing Plan Metrics, and ensure that it’s executed technically well and assess content needs/improvements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Digital Marketing Strategy
- Collaborates with Marketing Management to build high-level digital marketing campaigns as well as content and technology plans that address business goals and needs in the areas of Community & Sales (Product and Fundraising).
- Brainstorm with Marketing Management on how to address Marketing Plan needs.
- Collaborates with Marketing Management to develop campaign structures (e.g. – themes, standards, key communication points).
- Partners effectively with team members to build project plans, timelines, and task lists that align with strategies.
- Seeks research to understand Digital Marketing best practices to drive business needs.
- Works with team to educate team on conversion copy best practices as well as other areas.
- Collaborates with the Marketing Management team on developing and assessing research, market conditions, and competitor data to produce the best Marketing Plan to address coming future needs.
- Provides thought leadership in marketing, technology, and industry best practices.
- Collaborates with Marketing Management to build high-level digital marketing campaigns as well as content and technology plans that address business goals and needs in the areas of Community & Sales (Product and Fundraising).
- Digital Marketing Strategy to Mar-Tech Execution
- Email & Marketing Automation
- Fully leverages the marketing automation tool (Marketing Cloud) for executing, tracking, and managing email and other customer touchpoints.
- Develops and oversees digital strategies that capture and nurture customers along an engagement journey, particularly via email journeys.
- Collaborates with team members to optimize the marketing automation tool, create email journeys, analyze results, and troubleshoot any issues.
- Collaborates with marketing team to segment email data and create send lists.
- Manages Websites
- Manages website and ecommerce performance, conversions, and user experience.
- Leads web UX and collaborates cross functionally (Marketing, Technology) to build a manageable website that addresses the Customer needs.
- Guides format and structure of landing pages for optimized user experience
- Media Performance
- Oversees and optimizes PPC, SEO, the Google Grant, landing pages, and retargeting toward high performance.
- Works with Analysts to report on digital marketing campaign performance and budget with an eye for growth and optimization opportunities.
- Manages paid media agency to drive (1) sales and (2) community sign up (social, email/lead gen) and (3) generate awareness.
- Evaluates search marketing and sets standards for SEO improvement through Content.
- For contract renewals/changes, leads Email system assessment and recommends best email ecosystem to meet customer needs.
- Continually assess the effectiveness of email campaigns/sends and works with the creative team to optimize email content for deliverability and open rates.
- Mobile App Oversight
- Provides ongoing strategic guidance in the execution of the mobile app
- Uses market research to make data driven recommendations to the New Product innovation team about new app features and improvements.
- Oversees day to day entry of content in the mobile app
- Oversee mobile app product management and the mobile app product manager. Ensure app maintains SLAs
- Oversee Mobile App ongoing development and management
- Email & Marketing Automation
- Team Management
- Manages the work, growth, and performance of Mar-tech marketing team members.
- Delegates effectively to team members according to their skills, experience, and interests and offers opportunities for growth and new responsibilities.
- Partners with ministry managers and senior leaders to effectively communicate, share ideas, and contribute to a healthy, thriving culture.
- Actively participates in and leads team activities and meetings.
- Marketing/Technology Liaison
- Serves as the marketing lead for all MarTech projects, systems, and activities.
- Collaborates with IT to optimize use of MarTech systems according to best practices.
- Performs market research and participates in requirements gathering to guide MarTech system selections.
- Teamwork Leadership
- Participates in staff activities including morning prayer, weekly Bible study, and all-staff gatherings.
- Partners with Marketing leaders and staff to create and encourage a high-performing team with healthy communication and strong working relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This may include Strategic Projects that impact digital areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Able to oversee content management systems (CMSs) like Contentful
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Marketing, or Communications; 5 years of experience in digital marketing; app development experience preferred.
