The Role

Emergent is seeking a Social Media Coordinator with a passion for social media and digital content to join our creative, highly collaborative Editorial team. The individual in this role will work hand-in-hand with our social media, editorial, and creative leads to bring unique stories to life in a social-first way. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with social platforms—particularly Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest—and have a background in journalism and/or professional writing. This individual will own the management of our social communities across the Emergent portfolio while also generating content for the channels.


This is the perfect opportunity for recent college grads or junior-level employees looking to combine a passion for social media with solid skills in writing, research, and reporting. In this role, you’ll work in an idea-first environment and join a team that helps concept and deliver creative experiences that inspire our audience.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and respond to social media interactions, including comments, messages, and mentions
  • Conduct proactive engagement to grow our audiences
  • Assist Social Media Managers with content curation, outreach, and scheduling/posting content as needed 
  • Work with Editorial Director and contributors to optimize editorial stories for social channels
  • Contribute reported/researched stories for editorial sites and social channels
  • Monitor social media trends and stay up-to-date with platform best practices
  • Brainstorm new and innovative ideas for content that will resonate with our audience
  • Work collaboratively across editorial, creative, sales, and other internal teams to champion fully integrated, social-first ideas

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram
  • Exceptional writing and research skills
  • Skilled communicator in both written and verbal formats
  • Creative, innovative thinker
  • Able to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with relentlessly high standards
  • Currently based in or relocating to Los Angeles, CA. Relocation reimbursement and interview expenses are not provided.

Reports to: Director of Editorial

Starting salary: $26.44 - $28.84 per hour ($55,000-$60,000 annually) 

This is a contract to hire position, 30 hours per week,

Possibility of converting to full-time/regular within 30 days for the right candidate

Hybrid schedule, WFH / In-office twice a week
