About Our Client

My client is a large global organization with ample room for career growth. The Category Manager - Marketing/Media is exciting as this person will be working on some of the largest media contracts for the organization. This role is fully remote with travel 1-2x per quarter.

Job Description
  • Category Strategy Development:
    • Develop and execute procurement strategies specific to the marketing and media category, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
    • Analyze the spend within marketing and media services, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
    • Understand marketing trends and the evolving media landscape to anticipate future procurement needs.
  • Supplier Management & Negotiation:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key marketing and media suppliers (e.g., media agencies, creative agencies, production companies).
    • Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contracts, ensuring the best value for the company.
    • Regularly assess supplier performance and develop strategies for supplier improvement or replacement as needed.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting:
    • Manage the category's procurement budget, ensuring that marketing and media services are procured within budget constraints while maximizing value.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reductions and optimize the allocation of marketing/media spend.
    • Work with finance and marketing departments to forecast procurement needs and set budgets for marketing activities.
  • Contract Management & Compliance:
    • Oversee contract development and management for marketing and media vendors, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and legal requirements.
    • Ensure contracts meet the needs of the business and provide flexibility for changing market conditions.
    • Monitor contract performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Market Analysis & Supplier Sourcing:
    • Conduct ongoing market research to stay updated on industry trends, supplier innovation, and pricing dynamics in the marketing and media sectors.
    • Identify and source new suppliers that offer innovative marketing solutions, better pricing, or strategic advantages.
    • Conduct supplier benchmarking to ensure the company is getting the best value from its media and marketing investments.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with marketing teams to understand their procurement needs and support them in achieving campaign objectives.
    • Partner with finance, legal, and other departments to align procurement strategies with overall corporate goals.
    • Facilitate internal communication between procurement and marketing departments to ensure smooth execution of marketing campaigns and media buys.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks in the supply chain for marketing and media services, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and compliance risks.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies to protect the business from unforeseen disruptions or cost increases.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting:
    • Track and report on the performance of the marketing and media procurement category using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost savings, supplier performance, contract compliance, and budget adherence.
    • Provide regular reports to senior management on procurement performance and suggest improvements.

The Successful Applicant
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Marketing, or a related field (CIPS or other procurement certifications are a plus).
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in procurement, ideally with experience in marketing, media, or advertising procurement.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Deep understanding of procurement best practices, especially within marketing and media services.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze costs, contracts, and market trends.
    • Experience in contract management and vendor performance evaluation.


What's on Offer

Target compensation for the Category Manager - Marketing/Media is $120,000 - $140,000 + 10% Bonus.
