Multimedia Communications Specialist Posting Number 2024-14163 Location : Location US-NY-New York Hybrid Remote Work Classification Hybrid: 60% to 80% Onsite Department Campus Safety Operations School/Division Public Safety (WS2053) Compensation Grade Band 52 Union N/A FT/PT Full-Time Category Marketing/Advertising/Public Relations/Media/Video/Audio Position Summary Create and manage visual and written content that supports campus safety initiatives and enhances community engagement, which includes filming, photography, graphic design, and content creation for digital and print media to communicate safety-related information effectively. Partner with management to craft messaging, respond to inquiries, and promote the department's initiatives across various platforms; provide updates to university senior leadership through multimedia presentations and materials. Work closely with the communications and engagement team to develop creative strategies that increase safety awareness and participate in engagement activities. Please note this is a two-year fixed-term position. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Production, or a related field. Required Experience: 2+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience in multimedia production, including filming, photography, and editing, as well as experience with social media content creation and management. Preferred Experience: 1+ years Experience in a higher education or public safety environment. Experience working across multiple teams and units to create compelling content in a higher education setting. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong multimedia production skills and a dedication to promoting a safe campus environment. Proficiency with multimedia software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator). Strong understanding of photography, videography, and editing principles. Ability to effectively communicate and engage diverse audiences across digital platforms. Task-oriented with a strong ability to manage time and prioritize multiple projects. Skilled in creating content that aligns with safety messaging, including video production, graphics, and written materials. Excellent leadership, organizational, consultative, and verbal/written communication skills. Ability to guide senior leadership-as well as peers-on best practices and standards for visual production and visual identity. Knowledge of social media industry trends and best practices for individual social media platforms. Proficiency in end-to-end filmmaking, including pre-production, production (cinematography, lighting, audio production), editing and video compression for the web. Familiarity with DSLR video production and workflow. Proficient in Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro. Knowledge of digital photography and CMS. This position requires on-call and after-hours availability to respond to urgent situations and support time-sensitive initiatives. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Understanding of content creation of social media and best practices. Ability to assess and report on content performance to optimize future campaigns. Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital media. Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,500.00 to USD $104,500.00. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
