We are seeking an Associate Manager, Consumer Public Relations, Wines who will bring to life the unique stories and award-winning notes of some of the nation’s top luxury wines spanning California’s growing regions, from JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery in Paso Robles, to Landmark Vineyards in Sonoma, and Lewis Cellars in Napa Valley. Each of these wineries are distinctly different but are all Wonderful.

The Associate Manager, Consumer Public Relations, Wines is a day-to-day strategic partner for internal marketing teams and works closely with other cross-functional departments, leading strategic external communications efforts on behalf of our entire wine portfolio. This position will manage and oversee multiple brands to maximize media visibility, provide strategic direction and vision, cultivate and develop creative ideas, manage staff development, and ensure flawless execution.

The Associate Manager, Consumer Public Relations, Wines will report to the Director, Consumer PR, FIJI Water & Wine and will be based out of our west LA offices on a hybrid basis. We are in office Monday through Wednesday, with the option to work remotely Thursdays and Fridays. 

Job Description

  • Oversee and own the development and execution of strategic public relations plans for the Wonderful Company’s Portfolio of wine brands
  • Lead and coordinate event sponsorships, collaborations and partnerships that elevate the brands from inception to execution
  • Manage branded special events, food and wine festivals, national and regional trade shows, media tours and integrations, red carpet events and sampling programs, serving as a brand spokesperson and representative, as well as independently problem solving and pivoting as appropriate
  • Oversee trade and consumer media relations efforts, influencer programs and outreach. This includes media list development, media tracking and monitoring, packaging coverage and clips
  • Prepare and present seasonal and quarterly reports, and establish strategic ongoing media monitoring
  • Manage third party event vendors and PR agencies as needed
  • Build and nurture proactive and reactive media relationships with key media contacts, developing proactive pitching calendars and finding new and relevant ways to keep our brands top of mind
  • Define the brand voice through press releases and pitches, and message development
  • Lead the development of message guides, event briefings and itineraries, case studies, award entries and other correspondence, as appropriate
  • Identify and implement out-of-the-box third-party projects such as VIP collaborations, integration opportunities, and brand partnerships
  • Collaborate with senior management and brand teams, and work cross-functionally with our marketing, advertising, research, and legal teams
  • Work closely with the hospitality teams at our wineries and tasting rooms to coordinate media and influencer trips
  • Build lasting and credible relationships with celebrity, cultural and influential tastemakers
  • Strategically evaluate media inquiries and interview opportunities and craft briefing documents and talking points for executives
  • Manage the day-to-day organic social strategy for the wines portfolio to help showcase the lifestyle, people and properties behind each of the brands, this includes identifying UGC or owned images to share and drafting monthly social media editorial calendars
  • Oversee, create and manage client budgets and allocations
  • Develop an environment for collaboration through leading brainstorm sessions and stakeholder meetings
  • Guide and mentor junior team members
Qualifications

  • At least 4-6 years of communications experience including wine, hospitality or luxury brand PR experience (*ideal but not required) within an agency or corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, Events or Hospitality
  • WSET 1 or higher training preferred
  • Has the confidence and ability to operate and staff events autonomously
  • Has a genuine passion for the wine industry
  • Demonstrates a passion for media relations and ability to secure branded results
  • Skilled at event coordination and staffing
  • Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Accurate and consistent, and is well-tuned into attention to detail
  • Strong writing, research and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated team player that rises to the occasion and takes ownership of projects; acts as a solution provider
  • A creative and innovative mindset
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms
  • Knowledge of standard PR tools: MuckRack, PR Newswire/Businesswire, media monitoring services, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours as many events occur in the evening and/or on weekends with up to 25% travel to lead events

Pay Range: $85,000 - $90,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
