One of OneMain's critical and highly visible initiatives is building and scaling industry-leading digital experiences for our customers via web and mobile platforms. OneMain is seeking a VP/MD User Experience Design to build and lead a design team to create innovative digital experiences that will impact millions of customers and contribute to the overall success of the digital experience.
As the VP/MD User Experience Design and Research, you will have the autonomy to design experiences that will be used by millions of OneMain's customers and be highly visible in the financial services industry. You will have direct exposure to leaders and digital thinkers across the organization and will be viewed as a subject matter expert in UX design.
About the Role:
Hire and lead a team of UX Designers and researchers and partner closely with Product Managers, UI Engineers, Marketing, and digital team leadership to take conceptual ideas and turn them into functional and discoverable product features.
Lead prototyping and user testing as well as lead the design experience of the business platform with both high standards and deep insights, translating product requirements and user research into an outstanding customer experience.
Define, design, and launch end-to-end best in class customer experiences.
Lead and design elegant, simple, human-centric flows and experiences as OneMain redefines their digital products.
Create a design system that delivers a consistent and on-brand experience throughout all digital experiences, both website and mobile apps.
Formulate decisions and contribute to high-level strategic results and participate in ad-hoc whiteboarding sessions.
About You:
Proven ability to be curious, take risks, and champion new ideas to push the evolution of products, including online and offline cross-channel experiences.
Experience evangelizing human-centered design across an organization and help driving a customer-first approach.
Expertise in leading with a customer-first mindset. Ability to talk to them, analyze their behavior, step into their shoes, and help us define and evolve OneMain's customer personas.
Previous experience performing user-research, interaction and visual design, and UI design, while directing and developing others.
Experience building a high performing team capable of working as members of several product teams. You collaborate effectively with key stakeholders and leaders across the organization and create a culture of collaboration and partnership across your team.
Qualifications:
At least 10 years of experience designing mobile-first and responsive web pages.
8+ years of managing a team of designers and researchers.
A bachelor's or master's degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Advanced knowledge of UX best practices and trends.
Expert proficiency with Figma, Miro, usertesting.com, Dovetail.
A portfolio of great design work with web apps and mobile apps.
Experience defining patterns/style guides, performing user testing, and building low and high-fidelity prototypes.
Solid understanding of software development and how to collaborate with developers.
Ability to hire, inspire, and develop a team of design professionals.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills with laser-sharp attention to detail and accuracy.
Superior communications skills and ability to influence stakeholders across the organization.
Highly Preferred: experience working in a financial services industry, especially consumer lending.
This role is Hybrid. You should be located within a committable distance to one of our offices located in Baltimore MD, Charlotte NC, Wilmington DE, Evansville IN, NYC, or Dallas/Fort Worth TX.
Target base salary range is $225k - $250k which is based on various factors including skills and work experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program that is based on individual and company performance.
