GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic and talented candidate to join our team supporting the Administrative Office of the US Courts (AOUSC) Case Management Systems Office (CMSO) in its modernization effort for one of its mission-critical applications that is used by all U.S. district and appellate courts’ staff members and external stakeholders. CMSO has a mature agile practice using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the AOUSC mission.
We are seeking an expert in user experience strategy and design, information architecture (IA), and front-end prototyping.
Responsibilities:
Design visually cohesive interfaces, ensuring alignment with UX wireframes, brand guidelines, and user-centered principles.
Collaborate with UX designers to translate user research, personas, and journey maps into engaging, usable designs.
Ensure UI designs are consistent with brand guidelines and follow best practices for visual hierarchy, color, and typography.
Develop clear, polished, and interactive prototypes that communicate design decisions effectively to stakeholders and developers.
Create high-fidelity prototypes, mockups, and visual assets for web, mobile, and other digital platforms.
Collaborate with product owners and UX designers to maintain design consistency, refine interactions, and ensure smooth handoff of assets.
Conduct design reviews and iterate based on feedback from stakeholders, usability tests, and analytics.
Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards, promoting inclusive user experiences.
Build and refine design system component libraries to improve efficiency and maintain consistency.
Conduct usability testing to validate design effectiveness and iterate as needed.
Create and manage design assets, icons, and illustrations as required.
Prepare documentation of user interfaces.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years experience in software engineering and design architectures.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering or relevant computer-based major.
Experience and understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
Experience with building and migration software and IT services to align to strategic business needs and goals.
Experience in conducting research for advanced technologies to determining how IT can support business needs leveraging software, hardware, or infrastructure.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Proficiency in design and prototyping tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.
Experience in building or contributing to design systems and a strong understanding of component-based design.
A solid understanding of UX principles, with the ability to translate complex user flows into clean, user-centered designs.
Experience with responsive design and understanding of front-end constraints.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate your design decisions clearly.
Understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG and 508 Compliance, and inclusive design principles.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and articulate ideas and design decisions clearly.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Knowledge of front-end frameworks such as React (from a design perspective).
Familiarity with A/B testing tools and methods for design optimization.
Knowledge of user research and usability testing techniques.
Proficiency in HTML and CSS

The likely salary range for this position is $133,652 - $180,824. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
