Position Overview

The Digital Experience Consultant is responsible for the analysis, design, development, and evaluation of learning programs and curricula that provide Mosaic clients with the knowledge and skills required to achieve desired business outcomes. In partnership with the project team and client, the Digital Experience Consultant is focused on leveraging the integration of technologies to enhance the learning experience; advance innovative teaching and learning initiatives across the curriculum; and ensure that equity and inclusion are rooted in these learning experiences. The Digital Experience Consultant is responsible for continually innovating to advance and apply immersive and non-traditional learning solutions which include virtual reality simulations, interactive video, gamification, storytelling, and experiential design into Mosaic’s client solutions.


Roles and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Digital Experience Consultant role are as follows:


  • Translate client experiential needs into actionable developer storyboards planning for data capture and reporting requirements.
  • Design XR experiences that allow for the application of skills and training in a simulated environment.
  • Serve as main point of contact between client SMEs, Sponsors, and Developers and manage timelines.
  • Coordinate and execute XR content QA testing and document feedback and revisions.
  • Review XR content from both the client and developer perspective.
  • Assist in implementing new XR products into the LMS and build out the initial reporting structures.
  • Use design documents and storyboards to create digital course content using ADDIE, SAM, or other instructional design methodologies leveraged by Mosaic as appropriate for client engagement.
  • Prepare and lead design sessions with clients and Subject Matter Experts (SME), both in person and virtual.
  • Identify the criteria used to assess learner’s performance and develop assessment and measurement instruments.
  • Create Digital learning experiences that resonate across diverse audiences.
  • Study source material and conduct additional research to fully understand learning content needed for the client’s solution.
  • Drafts solution outline, concept descriptions, learning content overviews, and other explanatory documents to confirm the client’s solution prior to storyboarding.
  • Create extensive storyboards for the intended learning solution, which includes user interface components, detailed instructions on modeling and image development, and specific directions for third-party developers.
  • Review models, functional versions of solutions, and other developed components to ensure integrity and consistency with intended design.
  • Communicate vision and details of solution to third-party development partner throughout the design, development, and delivery phases.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of awareness and understanding of modern and trendy methods of using XR and other immersive learning technology.
  • Advocate for the potential learner as a user of the intended technology solution, including designing components for effective user interface, and improving user experience.
  • Partner with other Digital Learning team members to problem solve, brainstorm user experience improvements, and connect development steps to client requirements.
  • Partner with Digital Learning leadership to ensure projects are executed in scope, on-time, and on budget.
  • Support Quality Assurance team members to help them understand the learning solution and effectively record feedback for improving development.
  • Apply traditional learning theories and design methods to modern tools and technology, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and immersive environment-based experiences.
  • Attend and actively participate in a variety of status meetings and working sessions that span across projects.
  • Willingness to attend meetings during non-traditional business hours to accommodate multiple time zones.

Skills and Experience

  • Instructional design background including strong knowledge of adult learning theory, learning styles, and learner needs.
  • Ability to incorporate the most effective, leading-edge digital instructional design approaches while staying within allocated budget and timeline.
  • Demonstrated ability for learning and applying innovative technologies while understanding complex technical material.
  • Experience applying non-traditional methods of learning design, including gamification, storytelling, and human-centered design to create highly effective training programs.
  • Experience facilitating design sessions and drafting complex storyboards as an output of discussions with team members and client stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in writing, editing, and grammatical skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects for multiple clients.
  • Effective communication skills including timely follow-up with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to partner with clients, vendors, and project teams to create trusting work relationships.
  • Basic familiarity with experiential environments, both virtual reality and augmented reality is desired.
  • Basic knowledge of tools used for developing XR/VR/AR experiences is desired but not required.
  • Basic awareness of the hardware (headsets) used to consume/experience XR/VR/AR.


Working Relationships

  • Internal: Develops and maintains strong relationships across the organization. Interacts and collaborates extensively with project managers, project leads, and other Mosaic leaders.
  • External: Independently works in and effectively navigates through ambiguous and varying client environments.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Position requires extensive travel and ability to sit for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   • Work Environment: Work environment can vary greatly depending on client and location. Reliable transportation to and from work location required. Travel will be required depending on client/project needs.

The compensation range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making hiring and compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to candidate skill set, consulting experience, training and education, competencies, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Mosaic strives to set salaries at, or near the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the range and it is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range for the position. A reasonable estimate for this position is:

  • Consultant: $90,000 - $110,000
  • Lead Consultant: $105,000 - $125,000
  • Senior Consultant: $125,000 - $145,000

The final offer will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program. Bonus program is dependent on a variety of factors including organizational and individual performance.
