Tipping Point Media, based in Malvern, PA, is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer (contract/freelance) to join our team. We have a diverse range of innovative projects in the pipeline, including cutting-edge eXtended Reality (XR) experiences (VR/AR/MR), interactive eLearning modules, and immersive simulations. These initiatives focus primarily on clients in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, and Biotech industries. As an Instructional Designer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting impactful learning solutions.


Job Summary: The ideal candidate will have experience designing content for eLearning and advanced technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). You will collaborate closely with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs), medical writers, project managers, and internal teams to bring training solutions to life.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients and SMEs to assess learning needs and define instructional objectives.
  • Write proposals and statements of work (SOWs) to scope training projects.
  • Design solutions across a wide range of modalities including interactive PDFs, eLearning, videos, job aids, simulations, iPad applications, and virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.
  • Partner with medical writers to ensure content is accurate and aligned with the client’s goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Create wireframe and rapid prototype learning solutions to visualize course structure, user interactions, and key design elements, ensuring alignment with client goals and facilitating feedback for iterative improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (graphic designers, project managers, programmers) to ensure timely delivery and alignment with client expectations.
  • Stay current with industry-leading course development tools, though little to no direct programming will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience designing training solutions for the life sciences industry (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, etc.).
  • Experience creating content for immersive learning technologies (AR/VR) is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard course development software (e.g., Articulate Storyline or similar tools).
  • Ability to create clear, structured storyboards and design documents for complex training programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
