Controller Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Controller to lead the day-to-day operations of their accounting department. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing financial processes and overseeing the accuracy of the financial records. Key Responsibilities of the Controller:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Manage the treasury function and banking relationships
Revenue recognition, calculate partner compensation
Work closely with other departments to provide financial support and insights, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and assist in preparing financial reports for senior leadership.
Coordinate and lead audits, as well as tax preparation and compliance efforts with external auditors and consultants.
Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
Stay updated on industry standards, changes in accounting regulations, and best practices to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
Qualifications for the Controller:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Proven experience in managing accounting operations within a professional services firm or similar environment.
Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage in detail-oriented tasks alongside the team.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
