Program Dates: January - May 2025

HYBRID:

Position is on a hybrid schedule-Mondays and Tuesdays work from home, Wednesdays and Thursdays in our Midtown NYC office. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule:

28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break

Pay rate:

$16/hour

Position open to all ; no current enrollment or degree required.

About the role:

This position will support and learn from the Marketing & Publicity departments for the Workman Children's group allowing insight into a variety of industry niches, responsibilities, and experiences.

WORKMAN CHILDREN'S includes Workman Kids titles. Workman Children's publishes engaging, gifty bestselling series like Indestructibles, Learn by Sticker, Brain Quest, and more.

As an HBG Marketing & Publicity Intern for the our imprints, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.

To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Interest in commercial adult nonfiction and children's books (fiction and nonfiction) Highly organized and detail-oriented Excellent written and verbal communication Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Canva, and G-Suite applications Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines Ability to learn new software programs The ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment An excitement for participating in and contributing to a fun, vibrant work environment with great company culture Responsibilities include:

Assisting with social media campaigns and growing our influencer database Helping brainstorm, create, and schedule social media posts, including the library marketing Instagram account Media monitoring Writing and compiling press materials, including press release and praise sheets Researching new media contacts and outlets that would be interested in covering our books Assisting with administrative tasks, including organizing mailings, managing spreadsheets, saving press clips, etc. Attending department meetings and actively contributing ideas
