Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fund accounting and a passion for supporting nonprofit initiatives. This role will involve managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Staff Accountant will work in a hybrid capacity, allowing for both in-office and remote work.
Key Responsibilities for Staff Accountant:
Fund Accounting:
Maintain accurate records of all funds, ensuring proper tracking and reporting for grants, donations, and other revenue sources.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
Budget Management:
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, providing insights into variances and financial trends.
Reconciliation:
Perform regular bank reconciliations and assist in the reconciliation of all financial accounts.
Audit Support:
Prepare documentation and assist with the annual audit process, providing necessary information to auditors.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements, including IRS regulations for nonprofits.
Collaboration:
Work closely with program managers to track expenditures and provide financial insights to support program decision-making.
Financial Software Management:
Utilize accounting software and systems to maintain financial records and streamline processes.
Qualifications for Staff Accountant:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector with a focus on fund accounting.
Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting softwares and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
