Purpose of Job:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing the month-end consolidation of Corporation's financial statements, establishing accounting policies and consistent processes among the businesses and act as a key resource. This position will also support other corporate wide accounting finance initiatives such as software implementations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform various month-end duties including:
Preparing and recording elimination entries,
Applying analytical skills and reviewing review consolidation of the Company's financial statements and gather explanations for key fluctuations
Perform various consolidation checks
Prepare and review consolidating financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow)
Assist with maintaining the corporate general ledger: preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
Identify areas for improvements such as internal controls or accounting procedures, implement new internal controls or procedures accordingly to drive efficiencies or complete and accurate reporting
Assist with the review, documentation, implementation and communication of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
Provide guidance, training and support for the business unit accounting personnel to ensure that reporting and compliance objectives are achieved
Assist with intercompany out-of-balance reconciliation process, recommend and implement improvements to the process
Assist with corporate wide finance initiatives such as consistent reporting, acquisition or integration support, or various system implementation
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
2+ years of public accounting or experience preferred
Technical knowledge of US GAAP required
Experience and demonstrated understanding of percentage of completion accounting desired
Systems savvy with implementation experience and proficiency preferred
Proficiency in G/L, business intelligence and reporting tools preferred
