The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and executing the organization's payroll process, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Sr. Payroll Specialist Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage and maintain payroll data, including wage adjustments, bonuses, deductions, and timekeeping records.
Ensure proper calculation and distribution of pay, including salary, overtime, and commissions.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
Prepare and submit payroll-related tax filings, including federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of payroll taxes, wage garnishments, and other deductions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Payroll System Management:
Maintain and update payroll software, ensuring system configurations meet current regulatory standards.
Work closely with IT and HR to integrate payroll systems with other platforms like HRIS and accounting systems.
Conduct regular audits of payroll data and systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Employee Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll-related inquiries, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Provide guidance and training to employees on payroll processes and self-service systems.
Manage employee data changes related to payroll (new hires, terminations, promotions, etc.).
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Stay updated on payroll laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and suggest system enhancements.
Sr. Payroll Specialist Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Extensive knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage & hour laws.
Experience with ADP Workforce Now is required.
Experience with other payroll systems such as Workday or similar platforms is a plus.
