Our repeat client is a local non profit who's mission is to inspire donors to achieve their charitable goals from generation to generation and to improve the quality of life in the Baltimore region.
Due to the season and year end, they are looking to bring on an
Accounting Assistant
on a
contract basis through January 2025
to help with an uptick in grants and donations and audit prep.
Schedule: Start between 7:30-9am and work a 7.5 hour work day, Monday-Friday. Potential for overtime!
Position offers hybrid flexibility. 3 days in office (T-Th), 2 days work from home (M&F)
Potential for more days in office depending on the needs of the business. Candidates must be okay to come in office more if necessary
Company is located in the Mt. Vernon area in Baltimore city and offers free parking to its employees
Reports directly to Controller (who was placed by CFS)
Salary $55,000 - $65,000 depending on experience
Job Duties for the Accounting Assistant:
Assist with weekly grants & gifts processing.
Assist with accounts payable processing including obtaining W-9's, entering vendor invoices, check requests and expense reimbursements.
Assist with ACH set-up for vendors and grantees.
Record monthly postage expense allocation.
Secure monthly credit card receipts and scan for saving to network folders, import transactions to accounting system.
Coordinate annual 1099 preparation.
Assist with preparation for external audit.
Assist with incoming mail processing.
Provide support with mailing of fund statements and donor acknowledgement letters.
Assist Finance department with administrative tasks such as scanning and providing documents to vendors as needed.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications for the Accounting Assistant:
Associates degree in accounting, finance, business or related or equivalent work experience required
Non profit accounting experience highly preferred
Accounts payable experience preferred
Fund accounting understanding and experience and/or exposure to gift entry a plus
Strong written and oral communication skills, team player, willingness to jump in where needed
Proficient Excel skills (pivot tables)
Experience using FIMS accounting software a plus, but not required
Comfortable with manual processes and working at an organization going through changes
