The Assistant Controller will partner with the Controller to manage the department's ability to respond to the demands of the business. This Assistant Controller will be responsible for inventory balances, fixed assets, income and balance sheets, analyzing and reporting product cost, manufacturing expense budgets, supervising others and more. In addition, this role will bring financial analytical perspective to the needs of the business that will support management's decisions while ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
Assistant Controller Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Assistant Controller supervises and improves accelerated month-end close process, including journal entries
Accumulates and reports accurate and reliable information on the financial performance of the division
Prepares monthly and quarterly reporting to Corporate, including company financial statements, and tax information requests
Reviews monthly reconciliations
Maintains adequate internal controls over company procedures to ensure adherence to management policies and Sarbanes-Oxley
Directs annual physical inventory process and supervise reconciliation of raw material, work in process and finished goods inventory balances
Identifies and implements process improvements for accounting procedures
Identifies operating risks and propose solutions for management action
Develops, mentors and evaluates performance of Accounting staff
Plans and directs training and skill development of Accounting staff
Supports Corporate and internal initiatives and projects
Participates in compliance with Government Accounting standards and regulations
Builds effective cross functional relationships; Develops a team environment that ensures alignment to organization goals, objectives, and corporate values
Assistant Controller Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
MBA and/or CPA a plus
3+ years of post-graduate Accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)
Manufacturing industry experience preferred
Must have demonstrated strong analytical and project management skills
Proficiency in use of Oracle and Hyperion (HFM) preferred
Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements for accounting procedures required
