Southeast Indianapolis Industry: Distribution Fully in office Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience STAFF ACCOUNTANT PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Compute, classify, record, and verify numerical data for use in maintaining accounting and business records
Verify and post details of business transactions to the ledger and/or spreadsheets
Enforce corporate controls and governance by obtaining appropriate levels of approval for disbursements and other business activities
Manage the Company's full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including managing the collections and escalation process for delinquent accounts
Assist Controller and CFO with cash flow forecasting and reporting
Obtain W9s from vendors and administer annual 1099 process
Calculate commission accruals and audit disbursement requests
Administer company's sales/use and personal property tax processes
Work with Insurance Broker on renewal preparation and claims administration.
Support Sales Operations and RFP process by providing relevant company records and information
Serve as HR backup for Payroll processing
Lead various projects and initiatives in support of enhancing business processes
Work with operations to ensure timely billing of completed work orders
Reconcile certain general ledger accounts, researching and resolving any discrepancies
Assist employees, vendors, and customers by answering questions related to expense reports, bills, and invoices
Assist the Controller with audit preparedness efforts
Work closely with Controller to assist with the month-end close
Assist Controller and CFO with the preparation of ad hoc management reports and schedules
Establish meaningful cross-functional relationships and serves as a trusted financial partner to guide organizational decision making
Other responsibilities as assigned
STAFF ACCOUNTANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Exhibit a solid understanding of US GAAP principles and controls governance
Operate with a sense of urgency and uncompromising accuracy.
Cheerful and energetic with a professional presence, ample discretion and confidentiality, a positive attitude, curious mindset, and willingness to learn
Demonstrated ability to self-manage and multi-task
Excellent time management and organization skills including the ability to prioritize, support, and anticipate the needs of Controller with initiative and enthusiasm
QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, MS Dynamics or similar GL systems experience
High Proficiency in MS O365 (Excel, Word, and Teams)
STAFF ACCOUNTANT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years related experience or Associate's degree and 5+ years related experience
Minimum of 2 years of professional bookkeeping experience (including full cycle AP & AR)
Preferred Education / Experience
2+ years of professional bookkeeping experience
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university with a major in Accounting
Prior software or service industry experience (especially B2B or B2G), preferably with recurring revenue models
Experience in PE backed start-up's or high-growth, fast-paced companies
