Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Head, Content Strategy, the Content Manager, North America is responsible for content and information published about our North American products and distributed to students and agents. Working closely with the Senior Head, Content Strategy, you will manage a small team to ensure that our marketing content for North America is impactful, engaging, informative, and accurate. You will be responsible for helping turn business and recruitment objectives into creative marketing solutions and actionable content plans for US and Canadian university partners, including partners based in New York, Connecticut, Arizona, and Oregon.

Content Manager - North America
Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Head, Content Strategy, the Content Manager, North America is responsible for content and information published about our North American products and distributed to students and agents. Working closely with the Senior Head, Content Strategy, you will manage a small team to ensure that our marketing content for North America is impactful, engaging, informative, and accurate. You will be responsible for helping turn business and recruitment objectives into creative marketing solutions and actionable content plans for US and Canadian university partners, including partners based in New York, Connecticut, Arizona, and Oregon.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Lead and mentor roles, including a Senior Content Writer, within the Content Team, with a focus on North American content and marketing.
- Encourage a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Content Creation and Management
- Work on and oversee high-profile written content for North American products and partners.
- Oversee and review content produced by other members of the team for our North American partners and products.
- Ensure processes are in place to keep North America specific information up to date; for example, rankings, course information, statistics, etc.
- Take responsibility for the accuracy of any content published, including brochures, flyers, web pages, blogs, video scripts, email content and more.
Content Strategy and Planning
- Working closely with the Senior Head, Content Strategy, Product Marketing, creative teams and channel leads, you will support the development of content strategy and plans for our North American partners and products.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and all M&R teams for seamless content development and execution.
Brand and Product Expert
- Become a bastion of product knowledge for our North American products and partners and develop critical knowledge about global higher education.
- Be a guardian of the Kaplan brand, as well as the brands of our partner universities, adhering to appropriate style guides where needed.
- Help ensure there is an appropriate level of engagement with, and understanding of, North American products within the team.
- Be a champion for a regional approach to content marketing, and explore new ways of creating impactful content, in a more targeted, localized way.
- Utilize analytics to inform content planning, monitor performance, and make data-driven decisions.
- Ensure the team is making responsible use of AI tools to improve efficiency, innovation and creativity.
- Ensure that telling honest, authentic student stories remains an unwavering principle in our marketing, in collaboration with the wider Marketing Team.
- Innovate and experiment with new ways to tell student stories and ensure our Student Voice content reaches the right audience.
Travel and Events
- This role may include very occasional travel to the UK to participate in marketing team events.
- This role may include some occasional travel to university partner destinations to support content trips and partnership events.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have
- At least 5+ years of experience in a content marketing role
- A strong understanding of the US higher education system
- Excellent and proven content writing skills
- Excellent ability to review and edit content created by others
- Experience managing junior members of staff
- Experience making and executing content plans
- Experience with CMS such as WordPress, as well as software such as InDesign
- A strong attention to detail, and ability to adhere to style guides and brand guidelines
- The ability to be a creative thinker, bringing innovative ideas to projects
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to use data and performance analytics to improve content
- First-hand experience of the US education system
- A strong understanding of the Canadian higher education system
- Experience working in the higher education sector
- Experience working on and covering events
- Experience of marketing for international audiences
- Experience using generative AI tools in a marketing context
