Job Summary:
This position involves the preparation, writing, and management of a portfolio of highly competitive, technical, and complex grant proposals and applications for the OSU Center for Health Sciences. The role reports directly to the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives. The primary focus of the Grant Writer is to support successful grant applications for the Institute of Virtual Care and Innovation, although additional grant writing tasks may be undertaken as time allows. The Grant Writer evaluates the requirements of each proposal, typically based on a "request for proposals" (RFP), and develops a proposal strategy and action plan after thoroughly understanding the program's content and needs. This role collaborates with the Executive Director to identify potential grant opportunities, conceptualize proposals, gather and analyze data, and prepare the final submission. Additionally, the Grant Writer is responsible for meeting the reporting requirements associated with grants. When faculty or staff draft significant sections of a proposal, the Grant Writer provides guidance and leadership by reviewing and suggesting improvements to the proposed work. The Grant Writer also interprets and complies with sponsor regulations while researching funding opportunities from various public and private agencies and organizations. Furthermore, this position aims to enhance and promote collaborative potential among constituent institutions by assessing and cataloging their capabilities and interests.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree
-Three (3) years of experience writing and proofreading successful extramuralgrant proposals.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiencies, Knowledge and Skills:
-Proficient in technical writing, analytical assessment, evaluation, creative writing, policy interpretation, networking, strategic planning, problem identification and resolution, as well as research aimed at identifying opportunities and analyzing capabilities.
-Strong communication abilities to engage with diverse groups, facilitating research, securing and providing information, clarifying situations, resolving issues, and fostering cooperation among individuals.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively coordinate projects and personnel, prioritize tasks, and monitor multiple projects concurrently.
-Capable of meeting critical deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality in project execution.
-Demonstrated ability to adapt communication styles to suit various audiences, enhancing collaboration and understanding in diverse environments.
Preferred:
-Master's degree
-Experience working in higher education or in an organization that funds grantsfor higher education institutions.
