Job Summary/Description:
The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer repairs maintains, and provides technical and operational support to mechanical and electronic equipment within the broadcast facility. The Broadcast Engineer also provides technical support to news and production operations.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are limited to):
* Performs troubleshooting of hardware and software problems on all Broadcast equipment. Repairs component or board level as appropriate
* Provides prompt service in support of daily News Department operations and other station departments
* Performs preventive maintenance as appropriate on station equipment
* Cross-trains other members of the technical staff, and improves/updates technical job skills
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Associate degree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent training and/or experience
* Five years experience maintaining technical equipment in a television broadcast or post-production facility is preferred
* Must possess mid-level experience and knowledge of computers, servers, data infrastructure including Ethernet and fiber in support of IP and communications protocols, and computer operating systems (WP, Windows 10, Server 2008, etc)
* Knowledge of Edius editing servers and control room automation is a plus
* Must have the ability to install and configure broadcast technical equipment and computer hardware and software, and troubleshoot computer-related problems in support of broadcast-specific technology
* Good written and verbal skills. Must have the ability to communicate with non-technical personnel to resolve equipment issues
* Must have the ability to prioritize and make changes to work plans without loss of efficiency or composure
* Ability to make well-informed decisions quickly while under pressure
* Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
* Must possess a positive work attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work well with others
* Have the ability for a flexible work schedule in support of a 24x7x365 broadcast operation
