OVERVIEW:

The Store Design Planner designs and delivers new and remodel DICK'S Sporting Goods store plans by joining the physical and merchandising attributes of the brand into cost conscious spaces that excite and engage our athletes and teammates. The Store Design Planner combines business strategies, athlete and teammate experiences, and performance metrics with site-specific conditions, fixtures, materials, and design principles to define each store's space, navigation, and merchandising flow. This person ensures the accurate translation of the merchandising, brand, and design intent into each store environment through the review, support, direction, and guidance of internal and external stakeholders. Specifically, the Store Design Planner is responsible for each store's plan and its development process, creating highly detailed, complete, accurate and fully coordinated floorplans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Architectural Floor Planning

  • Creates architecture and fixture floor plans prior to formally presenting them for review and approval.
  • Partners with architects in preparing construction documents. Participates in and supports discussions with internal and external architects.
  • Actively supports and participates in special projects, initiatives, and program rollouts.
  • Leverages an understanding of ADA codes and regulations in designing store plans.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the plans they design prior to releasing them to the architect of record.
  • Maintains visibility to project budgets, forecasts, and actuals designing solutions that are within budget and raising awareness when risks arise.
Communication
  • This person is the central point of communication for the plan development process and is responsible for providing plans and plan updates to key stakeholders such as Architects, Construction Project Managers, and Visual Merchandising.
Floor Plan Analysis & Execution
  • Identifies the merchandising and design merits and drawbacks of plans and subsequently recommends and influences the design direction and selection of the optimal plans.
  • Prepares and utilizes return on square footage analysis and sales performance metrics when designing and recommending store plan layouts and configurations.
  • Partners with the Space Management team on the in-depth analysis and use of return on square foot analysis.
  • Develops plans for new stores and remodel stores that incorporate the assortment needs of all business areas by creating space allocations that optimize store sales and profits.
  • Coordinates with the Visual teams on the incorporation of seasonal set changes and merchandising strategies into fixture orders and layouts.
  • Collaborates with Merchants, Store Operations, and Visual Merchandising teams to finalize merchandise floorplans.
  • Prepares drawings and documentation for Plan Review meetings, formally presents recommended plans and options at the meetings, and recaps outcomes and action items.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders on the creation of additional architectural, construction, graphics, and merchandising sheets that support the effective coordination and execution of the store design.
Other
  • Provides the Procurement Team with accurate plans and data for ordering fixtures, mannequins & graphics.
  • Coordinates with outside fixture vendors on the addition of new fixtures into store takeoff processes and provides fixture takeoff information using Revit software.
  • Effectively manages schedules, deadlines, and multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Shifts focus to the highest priorities and works independently.
  • Challenges the status quo, champions change, and influences others.


Education: Bachelor's Degree: Architecture, Interior Design or similar

Experience: Min of 1 year experience required, 3+ years of experience preferred
