Now hiring for a Part-Time Solar Designer based at our San Diego location

Compensation: $25 to $35/DOE

Employment type: Part-Time

Job Duties:

  • Create overlay and send to customer for approval
  • Design and review construction documents for solar plan set
  • Produce PV/ Energy Storage System designs for residential rooftop, ground mounts and commercial projects
  • Perform ampacity, voltage drop, conduit fill, load calculations, string sizing and other preliminary engineering calculations
  • Coordinate with project coordinators to ensure smooth flow of all information necessary for a project design
  • Communicate with operations staff about preliminary and final design
  • Self-proofing work to ensure accuracy before allowing any project to continue through pipeline
  • Create a material list for accurate counts when warehouse tech orders material
  • Work with local permitting jurisdictions to assure our designs meet their standard requirements
  • Call cities for application process, cost, jurisdiction accuracy and status updates
  • Create timelines for accurate project planning
  • Upload approved plans and job card to CRM notify operations staff
  • Create weekly reports of projects designed and permitted
  • Work with HOAs preparing all documentation to ensure we meet their requirements for approval
Qualifications:
  • Experience with solar residential and commercial design
  • Full knowledge of 2024 NEC building codes
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in drafting, designing or engineering preferred, not required
