Position Information
This part time page position is located at the Sweetwater Valley Library at the Threadmill Complex in Austell, GA and will work 15 hours per week plus an additional 4 hours on scheduled Sundays (1:00-5:00).
Essential Functions
Provides customer service to library patrons and the public, answers in - person inquiries, helps customers locate needed materials and refers customers to other appropriate assistance.
Returns library books and materials to appropriate shelving areas: shelves or places materials in appropriate order; reads labels to ensure materials belong to assigned branch and are arranged in proper order; and locates materials and searches for missing materials as needed.
Ensures equipment and facilities for use by various library programs are in working order and restores the rooms or locations to an orderly condition following their use.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be age 16 or older; supplemented by six months of experience performing customer service and shelving duties in a public library (desirable) or similar setting, working with and providing information to people of all ages, backgrounds, and knowledge of library specific software is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
* Having great interpersonal skills is a plus
* May work at the Circulation Desk processing library materials
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
