Position Summary

The University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) has an opening for a part-time Student Supervisor. We seek a student with library experience and demonstrated leadership ability.

The Student Team Lead will work with University Library staff and other supervisors to:
  • Manage the student workforce - adjusting students' workflow and assignments as needed to best meet user needs and to ensure that all work is completed in an efficient manner.
  • Model and support UL Student Employee rules and expectations amongst the student workforce - including dress code, attendance, breaks, and quality customer service.
In addition, the Student Team Lead may:
  • Monitor student employee performance; bringing any concerns or challenges to library staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in new student employee interviews.
  • Attend and participate in regular Student Manager meetings - offering input and engaging in discussions regarding student employment at UL branches.
  • Lead or implement work on special or ongoing projects.
Applicants must be familiar with libraries and capable of working within a team environment. All student employees may be asked to work nights and/or weekends. All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current/ impending school year. All library student employees must be able to shelf books and perform other physical activities as required. Please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled at UNM for a minimum of 6 credit hours during the normal school year.
  • 6 months or 2 semesters of directly-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Work Study award.
  • Experience providing user support at library public service settings.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively; both as a team member and as a leader.
