Job Details:

Purpose

The Media Technology Associate oversees and coordinates the daily activities of student employees within the equipment checkout area, ensuring smooth and efficient operations as part of the Equipment Checkout team. This role provides leadership to student employees and serves as the primary contact for equipment checkout issues and questions. It ensures that all shifts are properly scheduled and staffed, team members are well-trained, and tasks are delegated effectively. The Media Technology Associate supports the academic and research needs of Moody College students, faculty, and staff by maintaining a seamless equipment checkout process.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the hiring process for student employees, including work schedules, timesheet approvals, and performance evaluations.

  • Train student employees on general operations, workflow, safety procedures, equipment checkout policies, both basic and advanced equipment checkout system operations, and office tools like Office 365 and UT Box.

  • Coordinate the daily tasks and activities of student employees, ensuring completion of opening/closing checklists.

  • Create, prioritize, and assign projects to student employees to support daily operations.

  • Oversee outgoing and incoming equipment reservations, ensuring equipment is properly staged, ready for pick-up, accurately checked in, and that any issues are thoroughly documented.

  • Provide customer support, training, and guidance to users regarding equipment reservations and returns.

  • Resolve equipment-related issues by managing tickets in the checkout system, while maintaining up-to-date patron and equipment records.

  • Participate in weekly team discussions, offering recommendations for operational improvements.

  • Maintain the equipment checkout wiki webpage by updating records and inventory as needed.

  • Organize and maintain the digital scanning of daily completed checkout files for archival purposes.

  • Perform other related duties, such as attending conferences and participating in training opportunities, as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Two years of experience with film, video, lighting and grip equipment.

  • Prior experience in customer service or support roles and resolving issues.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Ability to provide clear instructions and training on equipment use and policies.

  • Competence in managing schedules, timesheets, and performance evaluations.

  • Ability to manage and document equipment reservations and returns accurately.

  • Ability to train and mentor employees on various procedures and systems.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in scheduling, inventory tracking, and record maintenance.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • History of punctual attendance and professional demeanor.

  • Proficiency in using MacOS and office tools such as Office 365.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

  • 4 or more years of experience with film, video, lighting and grip equipment.

  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational institution.

  • Supervisory experience or experience managing student workers, interns, or other part-time employees.

  • Experience in project management and task coordination.

  • Experience in creating, prioritizing, and assigning tasks or projects for a team.

  • Experience managing or working with inventory management or equipment checkout software.

  • Experience in maintaining digital records and inventory management.

  • Prior experience in training others on systems, policies, or operational procedures.

Salary Range

$46,000

Working Conditions
  • Standard office conditions in a shared office environment.

  • Occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather conditions while working in the main equipment area with overhead door open.

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

  • Use of manual dexterity.

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.

  • Occasionally lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
