The Unemployment Insurance Division at the IDOL has an exciting opportunity for multiple positions for a full-time UI Tax Examiner. The UI Tax Examiner is instrumental in conducting investigations and ensuring the integrity of the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund. The incumbent determines compliance with employment security laws. The ideal candidates will have strong financial skills, an analytical approach to problem solving, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently and on a team.
These positions will be located in Boise.

Example of Duties:
- Review and audit financial data for accuracy and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Conduct complex and thorough investigations to include the following tasks.
- Interview individuals from varying socio-economic backgrounds.
- Research and gather evidence.
- Document findings.
- Analyze facts.
- Issue determinations.
- Communicate investigation and audit findings to internal and external parties, provide guidance on corrective measures and enforce compliance with findings.
- Educate, assist and communicate with a wide-range of internal and external parties concerning financial transactions, operations and reporting from financial software.
- Identify and investigate areas of non-compliance for business operating throughout the State of Idaho.

- Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Typically gained by at least four years of professional work experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), usually gained as a bookkeeper, accountant or equivalent OR education to include 12 credit hours or a degree in accounting or a business-related field AND at least two years of professional work experience as described above.
- Experience developing, preparing and/or reviewing financial documents. Typically gained by at least one year of full-time work experience developing, preparing, and/or reviewing financial documents.
- Experience using a personal computer to develop reports, analyze data and compose correspondence. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience using a personal computer to develop reports, analyze data and compose correspondence as a regularly assigned job duty.
- Experience analyzing processes and/or activities and recommending corrective action. (This experience could be internal or external to your organization.) Typically gained by at least one year of full-time work experience analyzing processes and/or activities and recommending corrective action.
- Experience interacting and/or interviewing people from varying socioeconomic backgrounds to obtain sensitive or confidential information. This includes interacting and/or interviewing people alone and/or situations that could become volatile. Typically gained by at least one year of full-time work experience interacting and/or interviewing people from varying socioeconomic backgrounds to obtain sensitive or confidential information.
- Experience preparing and facilitating training to groups and individuals.
- Experience researching and analyzing financial documents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and accounting principles.
- Experience conducting meetings to discuss issues that can be controversial, adversarial or confidential.
- Experience compiling evidence and preparing a case for a hearing.
