Summary
Works under general supervision. Collects and compiles data, conducting analysis and summarizing findings. Prepares manuscripts and reports for internal (marketing or product documentation) or external (regulatory submissions, medical journals, academic conferences or presentations) use. Verifies technical details with medical or research personnel. Reviews existing documentation for accuracy and clarify and makes revisions as needed. May draft standard responses to common press or customer inquiries. Will support the Thoracic Oncology Research Group analytic projects, including completing and submitting meeting abstracts, peer-reviewed Manuscripts, research grants and scientific presentations. The Scientific Writer may also assist with technical grant administration duties. Other duties may be performed as assigned. Travel may be required.
Responsibilities
Education
Minimum: PhD in health analysis related field (e.g., public health, epidemiology, statistics, etc.)
Experience
Minimum: 2-4 years of research writing or analysis experience.
Special Skills
Preferred: Familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative work, such as coding in SAS, S or R.
Minimum: Computer literate including experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint. Experience with medical terminology, experience with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities
- Writes (or assists with writing of) thoracic oncology research projects. Writes abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, or grants as directed. Assists with formatting and preparing analytic results to various stakeholders. Coordinates and tracks progress on all thoracic oncology writing projects. Assists with the final preparation and submission of all thoracic oncology research writing projects. Maintains confidentiality of all research data and records, pursuant to HIPPA, FDA, GCP, ICH and IRB guidelines regarding research subjects. 20%
- Participates in thoracic oncology research team activities. Participates in thoracic oncology research group meetings and project-specific meetings as directed. Provides regular updates on progress toward completion of all writing project(s). Participates in research project planning as directed. Assists with formal presentation of research projects. 20%
- Assists with technical grant administration. Coordinates or completes activities related to grant submissions. Coordinates or completes activities related to grant reporting. Works with research team to monitor and report on grant-related budgets. Works with research team to prepare and execute grant related contracts. 20%
- Completes assigned goals. Achieves all requirements for assigned goals. Completes all assigned goals within designated time frames. 10%
