Responsibilities
Designers in a lead role in an office or practice are responsible primarily for local project-related design activities as well as mentoring and teaching staff on project teams. A Designer's role includes but is not limited to:
- Prepare full design plans for bridge rehabilitations, bridge replacements, and new bridges
- Coordinating work activities to maintain schedules and budgets, and achieve quality
- Exercising sound independent judgment and demonstrating knowledge and application of engineering principals
- Establish CAD workflow, processes, best practices, and procedures for the transportation team in Indianapolis
- Lead in the recruitment, development, and training of a growing CAD Designer transportation team in Indianapolis
- Support and help train civil analysts to be able to perform basic CAD skills, plan development, and design detailing best practices
- Partner with and provide feedback to project managers and engineers to establish best practices to translate design to plan production
- Be the go-to technical resource on the transportation team for CAD troubleshooting, questions, and shortcuts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency with civil design programs such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, etc.
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
- Ability to work independently and with a team
