The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) Director of Marketing leads, develops and executes comprehensive marketing strategies and branding efforts that align with the organization's overall goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

Branding & Advertising - 40%
  • Oversee the implementation of an economic development marketing strategy, including branding and advertising plans, that increases brand awareness and communicates the Baton Rouge Area's advantages for business
  • Oversee the implementation of a talent attraction and retention marketing strategy, including branding and advertising plans, that increases brand awareness and communicates the Baton Rouge Area's advantages for young professionals
  • Oversee a marketing program that supports and enhances BRAC's brand position and outreach marketing programs, including event marketing (specific marketing tactics may include direct mail, digital marketing, advertising, social media, and publications)
  • Work with Marketing staff and external agencies to execute successful marketing programs, serve as a bridge between teams, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and elevate efforts
  • Manage implementation and execution of annual advertising strategy
  • Oversee special high value/visibility marketing projects at the direction of the Senior Vice President of Marketing


Website Management - 30%
  • Direct successful web strategies that promote the Baton Rouge Area's business location advantages and increases top of mind awareness that the Baton Rouge Area is a prime location for business and talent
  • Analyze web site usage to improve user experience and identify potential marketing opportunities
  • Direct user-management strategy for each CMS, including training and support for related web entities
  • Define process and strategy for executing successful project websites, communicating best practices, and evolving the tool as needed


Leadership & Project Management - 20%
  • Manage various creative projects and oversee them to completion
  • Provide clear direction and clearly communicate goals of BRAC to staff and inform external stakeholders and clients
  • Develop methods/procedures to streamline various creative processes and continue to identify areas for improvement to make both the Marketing team and BRAC more effective moving forward
  • Identify effectiveness and impact of current marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis, and optimize accordingly
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets


Other Duties - 10%
  • Assist Senior Vice President of Marketing in management of department as required
  • Support department activities as needed (e.g. staffing events)
  • Manage content and assets, in conjunction with other marketing team members


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of marketing or advertising experience
  • Proven leadership in managing creative projects across multiple channels (print, digital, video)
  • Basic understanding of economic development principles and state and local government programs
  • Considerable and successful experience in developing and implementing effective marketing, advertising, and branding programs
  • Excellent project management and deadline management skills
  • Budget management experience and working with external agencies
  • Experience in mentoring junior team members
  • Strong analytical skills for measuring and optimizing marketing effectiveness
  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs.
