Our local government team has produced significant stories recently;
- A ransomware attack on the city of Dallas that continues to have impacts on the city and its IT department almost a year later.
- The abrupt resignation of the city manager, the significant payout he received to resign and his hiring shortly after as city manager in Austin.
- Dallas' failure to effectively use more than $2 million in federal funding that was destined to help remove lead paint from older homes, many of them in underserved communities.
- Dallas' efforts to bring the WNBA's Wings to a downtown arena that's part of an effort to create a new entertainment district in the city.
- Disarray in the Dallas County judicial system that resulted from implementing a new software system and led to delayed trials and defendants getting lost in the county jail.
