This is an in-office role in Franklin, TN
Here's just some of what you will be doing daily...
- Lead and manage a team of designers and provide direction, feedback, and guidance on projects with a "hands-on-when-needed" mentality.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality design work to clients.
- Stay current on design trends and techniques, and continually seek out new ways to improve the studio's processes and output including video, photography, and motion into the work.
- Manage the hiring and onboarding process for new design Team Members.
- Have a strong ability to communicate when projects are handed off to a Sr. Designer, Designer, or taken on as the Creative Visual Art Director.
- Work with Sr. Designers and Designers providing feedback and guidance on projects.
- Stay current on industry trends and techniques, and continually seek out new ways to push creative boundaries. Present and work closely with producers, campaign managers, and others being a trend setter in the work.
- Work with the Creative Director to identify and establish brand standards for each brand, while consistently bringing them to life in content and campaigns, in fresh ways.
- Provide insight into modern trends in both motion and static design in social, web, email, and all forms of media.
- Develop and mentor pieces of design to move from static only imagery, to mixed media content, where applicable.
- Recruit, develop, and manage designers by evaluating performance, providing coaching, training, and mentoring opportunities to maximize staff performance and professional growth.
- As a "hands-on" manager, create visual designs and concepts for brand content such as social media, websites, mobile apps, promos, ad banners, custom emails, and marketing and communication pieces (internal and external work) as appropriate.
- Plan, oversee and, manage all phases of the Design Studio department's projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. Establish targets and measures that adequately reflect digital communication objectives. Communicate objectives to staff, balancing team and individual responsibilities and productivity.
- Provide leadership in defining and communicating project scope and schedules; prioritize and establish deadlines; assign resources; assist with workflow; and manage visual and branding standards. Provide project status reports, coordinate project schedules of design team, and proactively identify and resolve creative and technical problems.
- Create and implement systems and documentation to increase efficiency of the department and ensure the quality of the products produced, including spreadsheets, forms, outlining projects and responsibilities, etc.
- Working within Marketing's SOPs for servicing internal clients, partner with internal client base (Product Teams, Audience Engagement, Donor Engagement, Human Resources, etc.) on graphical projects. Identify key stakeholders on projects and ensure strong customer service and "product" satisfaction by understanding the internal customer needs.
- Coordinate when needed with external contractors and other "out-sourced" resources to provide requested graphic assets and direction.
- Maintain professional competency, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional and technical development and training.
- Ensure deadlines are met, and capacity is communicated clearly through project managers.
- Use produced video content in the design work and provide edits for shorter from (30-90 second) content as needed while developing the team of Designers to think in mixed media terms.

- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, related field, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
- 7 plus years of experience in Graphic Arts and Web design.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a design leadership role or equivalent.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience in HTML and CSS, and knowledge of the constraints involved in designing for the WebExhibits versatility and flexibility.
- Strong project management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic, logical manner.
- Expertise in photography, illustration, and other related fields preferred.
- Experience and expertise with Web and social media design standards and best practices, regulations, laws, and trends, desired.
- Experience working with "clients" to determine project scope and vision and translate into design projects required.
- Regularly adapts to change while maintaining a positive attitude and high productivity.
- A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be a team player.
- Ability to thrive in a team-environment, while projecting professionalism and positivity in all interactions both internally and externally.
- Attention to detail and solid organization skills with ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give executive level presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
