Work on groundbreaking technologies that redefine combat and strategic capabilities globally, offering a chance to contribute to national and international security.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and edit technical documentation, manuals, and publications to support the operation, installation, and maintenance of advanced electronic, electrical, and mechanical equipment for cutting-edge defense technologies.
- Write, rewrite, and edit technical documentation, including procedure manuals, service manuals, programming guides, and operational specifications.
- Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing engineers and technical experts, observing production methods, and reviewing technical specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
- Oversee preparation of illustrative materials such as diagrams, sketches, and Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) content.
- Ensure documentation aligns with customer standards through formal and informal reviews.
- Manage technical writing projects from planning through on-time delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Participate in project team meetings and collaborate with cross-functional or virtual teams.
- Conduct quality reviews of all documentation.
- Occasional domestic travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of technical writing and editing experience, or 4 years with a related master's degree.
- At least 5 years of experience with MS Office, MS Word, and Acrobat Authoring Tools.
- Proficiency in XML authoring required.
- 5+ years of experience creating technical documentation for the installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Experience working with engineers and subject matter experts to develop highly technical content.
- Skills:
- Ability to manage projects from outline creation to on-time delivery.
- Expertise in planning writing and editing tasks, including in-process reviews.
- Familiarity with technical standards and conventions.
- Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of Product Life Cycle management.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes and Navy regulations.
- Experience working with relational databases and cross-functional teams.
- Background with Navy Supply Chain and Fixed Wing platforms.
- Strong spreadsheet proficiency.
