Leidos is seeking a Senior Technical Writer/Editor to work onsite at San Diego location.

What You'll Bring
Qualified candidates must have experience in editing narrative and graphic products to identify and correct grammatical formatting and logic errors and to identify logical inconsistencies that will require author attention. Must have experience in the application a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools. Must have experience in meeting with authors and other team representatives to review documents, compile inputs/corrections, resolve incompatible comments, and provide final publishable documentation. Must have experience in explaining in simple language scientific and technical ideas that are difficult for the average reader to understand.

Primary Responsibilities
The Sr. Technical Writer/Editor supports the Project Manager and Hardware and Software Development and Test Team. Concise documentation for robust hardware and software, sound processes, and program documentation are critical to ensuring delivery of a successful end product.
  • Supports the implementation of new projects and upgrades to existing projects by developing and delivering technical documentation for the project and facilitating collaboration by establishing meeting locations, shared workspaces, agendas, standard operating procedures, and meeting records.
  • Utilizes currently installed program documentation tools such as; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe FrameMaker, Visio, MS Project, Microsoft SharePoint to support project documentations.
  • Will update existing technical documentation and create new where needed.
  • Identifies and organize artifacts and links for scoped projects and processes.
  • Maintains and refines SharePoint artifacts (staff listings, team rosters, meeting notes, project plans, PPT presentations, action items, glossary listings, and how-to documents).

Basic Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelors degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
  • US Citizen with existing or ability to obtain Secret clearance. Federal Government requirement.
  • Strong technical writing skills (Clear, concise, and complete manner).
  • Strong grammar skills (punctuation, spelling, usage)
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in effectively formatting technical publications to include writing, editing, illustration, interpretations, and depth coverage.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience with writing technical documentation following DoD standards, interpreting engineering and maintenance drawings, and interpreting operational procedures.
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, problem solver who's willing to take initiative to develop systems expertise.
  • Strong listening skills to capture the necessary information from engineers.
  • Must have the ability to use sound judgment in problem solving and must possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Must obtain a Security + certification within 90 days of employment


Preferred Qualifications.
  • Familiarity with modern-day Cybersecurity and Cryptographic Key Management solutions.

Pay Range: Pay Range $98,150.00 - $177,425.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
