About The Information
The Information was founded in late 2013 with a simple idea: write deeply reported articles about the technology industry that you won't find elsewhere. Since then, we've become a disruptor in business news that's moved markets, gotten the early scoop on billions of dollars of acquisitions, and told you what's happening inside companies like Apple, Meta and Google. As a subscription-only publication, we aim high and take on challenging stories and adhere to the highest of journalistic standards. What we put into the work is just as in-depth as our output. We've attracted hundreds of thousands of active readers who look to us for breaking news stories and impactful features. As we look to expand our coverage in alignment with the needs of our subscribers, we continue to invest aggressively in our team.
About the role
Wall Street and Silicon Valley have never been more tightly intertwined. The Information's new Finance section gives its readers a commanding and authoritative mix of scoops and insight that spans both coasts, fueled by inside information from the most important players in finance.
We're seeking a reporter to dive deep into the world of private equity investing, where firms such as Apollo Global, Blackstone and Silver Lake are some of the biggest buyers and sellers of software companies and the entities (say AI data centers) they rely on. In the past three years, our reporters have gone deep on Blackstone's plans to build an entertainment empire and Apollo's turnaround of Yahoo, profiled Thoma Bravo's founder and scooped investing plans and failed gambles. We want to go even further.
To be successful in this role, the candidate will have at least five years of experience as a business, tech or finance reporter with a track record of developing sources, building a beat and breaking news. We are looking for someone who is keenly interested in the business of technology and who wants to pursue fast-moving scoops and longer features. The reporter can expect to work closely with our staff of collegial, award-winning tech and finance reporters.
Benefits:
Salary Range: $80,000 -$160,000 USD Annually + Bonus + Benefits
