We are looking for a Senior Consultant to lead earned media campaigns with some of Canada's leading technology, financial and professional services brands. As part of the H&K Toronto team, you will work with passionate, engaged colleagues from across the country to lead communications campaigns that deliver results for our clients.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in earned media, a deep understanding of the Canadian media landscape, connections with journalists and experience in managing projects and working directly with clients.
Here's what you'd be doing
• Maintain top-tier media relationships across broadcast, print, online and new media formats (e.g., podcasts), with a strong POV on how to earn media coverage
• Manage earned media campaigns for several clients, delivering high quality work on time and on budgets
• Advise clients on media strategy development across traditional, online and other platforms
• Serve as a mentor and coach for junior team members to help build media relations skills, foster a positive culture and delegate successfully
• Manage account financials and contribute to driving growth and account profitability
• Effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others using your strong communication and presentation skills
What you'll need to get here
• Background (approximately 6 years) working in journalism and/or PR agency environments in roles focused on media relations
• Deep knowledge of the Canadian media landscape and established relationships with journalists
• A nuanced and sophisticated understanding of what media wants in a story
• Passion for storytelling and crafting narratives
• Driven to meet and exceed earned media KPIs
• Strong writing and editing ability
• Excellent attention to detail and proven track record working to deadlines
• Ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work collaboratively
• Strong day-to-day client relationship skills
