WXIA-TV, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Anchor/Producer to join the streaming arm of TEGNA's Central Content team. This dynamic role requires a creative journalist with a passion for storytelling and a commitment to delivering engaging and authentic content to a diverse audience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility for delivering accurate and impactful news content on-air. They should be well-versed in handling both scheduled news events and breaking news with credibility and great command. They will have a strong background in news production, with a proven ability to develop compelling narratives, write effective scripts, and leverage analytics to understand viewer preferences. This role will involve both producing shows for TEGNA's streaming apps and anchoring the shows on camera.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative, engaging, and authentic news content for a national streaming audience
  • Write clear, engaging scripts that are backed by accurate and reliable research
  • Track trends and identify potential story ideas
  • Use analytics to understand audience preferences and tailor content accordingly
  • Employ creative techniques to enhance storytelling
  • Anchor segments and shows the team produces
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Promote diversity and inclusivity by giving a voice to underrepresented communities and viewpoints
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the overall goals of the team


Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience as a news producer with on-air anchoring
  • Experience writing and editing, in addition to anchoring breaking news
  • Image and video editing experience
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including weekend shifts
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience with live streaming software (VMix or similar) a plus
