Job Description
Position Title: Government Grant Writer
Accountable to: Government Relations Director
General Description:
Responsible for identifying, writing, and management of all Federal, State and Local Government funding opportunities in support of existing and planned EPFH programming. Compiles statistics and writes forecasting plans and performance reports for Federal, State and local contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively identify, write, submit and manage contract applications.
- Ensure grant compliance and reporting requirements.
- Under the direction of the Government Relations Director, oversees the day to day activities of all government contracts to ensure that all financial matters of the food bank as they relate to Federal, State and Local government contracts are maintained within applicable laws, contractual obligations and accounting principals of non-profit accounting.
- Ensures that audit standards are maintained of all government contracts and that a yearly audit is conducted which meets standards of practice for non-profits and Single Audit compliance.
- Initiates, develops, and maintains a working partnership with designated contact personnel as related to the Federal, State and Local government contracts.
- Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for contracts; regularly meet with the staff and Government Relations Director to identify and resolve problems, monitor workflow, and review and evaluate work products, practice and procedures.
- Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
- Prepares grant application analysis information for all government, state, and municipality grants.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, and two (2) years' experience in the provision of public services by community based or non-profit social services agencies and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in grant writing within the nonprofit and/or government sector.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local contract administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good knowledge of project and program administration including the review and evaluation of project invoices, requests for payment/reimbursement and project awards/budgets.
- Individually motivated and operating with a sense of urgency and personal accountability.
- Skills in computer applications i.e., word processing and database management.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize work, attention to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety on conditions.
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- Working conditions are onsite in an office
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 25 pounds
