Job Description Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Content Developer will think creatively and thoughtfully about how we can best share the stories of our school, work independently to create content for digital and print publications, and plan and create schedules for gathering and sharing information. Specifically, areas of responsibilities will include the following: Primary Responsibilities: Take photos and create videos of school activities. Produce and post content for social media. Write brief news items for the school’s website and other publications. Create weekly newsletter for parents. Find and share stories that will resonate with various constituencies (current families, alumni, families of prospective students, etc.), and determine which platforms will be most effective to reach these different groups. Edit, copyedit, and proofread documents, and write photo captions, and Be present and active in school life. Secondary Responsibilities: Pull address lists for mailings (three-five times a year). Coordinate with volunteer photographers (each sports season) and professional photographers (four times a year); and Provide general office support. The position may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are Minimum Experience: Three years of copy writing experience Education: Completed Bachelor’s degree Certifications: N/A Preferred Qualifications: Preference for 3-5 years substantial copy writing experience Able photographer and videographer, familiar with the basics of creating and editing images and film. Creative storyteller, in word and image. Compelling writer with excellent proofreading and copyediting skills. Self-starter who can create excellent content without substantial direction by supervisor. Experienced with web content, HTML, and database management systems (Blackbaud School Website and Raiser’s Edge a plus). Experienced with Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Premiere or Rush). Experienced with Facebook/Instagram/Google advertising and analytics. Well-organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks while meeting applicable deadlines.
