Our client, a non-profit organization based in New Haven County, is looking to add a Director of Finance to their team. Why this Director of Finance Opportunity? Responsibilities of Director of Finance: Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate fiscal function and performance. Participate in the development of plans and programs as a strategic partner. Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the President/CEO, the Board and other senior leadership in performing their responsibilities. Enhance and enforce policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness. Oversee the operations and effectiveness of the finance department, including the design of an organizational structure which will continue to achieve the department's goals and objectives for all entities. Oversee the property management process and monitor funder regulation compliance. Prepare a balanced budget for the Fiscal Year. Work with Auditors for Fiscal year end closing. Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges. Provide technical financial advice, knowledge, and leadership to others within the finance department. Coordinate tax reporting activities, including 1099s. Analyze, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports. Oversee and direct the preparation and issuance of annual report. Analyze operational issues and determine their financial impact. Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position. Use a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs. Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts Other duties as assigned. Preferred Experience of Director of Finance: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in producing financial reports and documents. HUD experience is a plus; non-profit experience is required. Knowledge and experience of the practices and principles of financial management (GAAP) Strong public speaking skills in developing and delivering presentations and presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritize tasks while taking direction and requests from multiple people in a fast-paced environment. Expert in QuickBooks and all Microsoft Office products. Additional experience with RealPage preferred. This is a fully on-site position based in New Haven.
