Job Summary
The SolidWorks Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in our sheet metal fabrication operations. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of sheet metal parts and assemblies using SolidWorks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sheet metal design principles, and manufacturing processes.
Job Description
- 3D Modeling and 2D Drawings:
- Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings of sheet metal parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Develop detailed drawings that include dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing instructions
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality
- Manufacturing Process Development:
- Collaborate with production personnel to develop and improve sheet metal fabrication processes
- Design and implement tooling and fixtures to optimize production efficiency
- Generate CNC programs for laser cutting, punching, bending, and other sheet metal processes
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM):
- Apply DFM principles to ensure designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing
- Identify and address potential manufacturing challenges early in the design process
- Collaborate with other engineers and departments to ensure design feasibility
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity
- Stay current with the latest sheet metal fabrication technologies and best practices
- Participate in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives
- Documentation and Communication:
- Maintain accurate and organized engineering documentation
- Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient production processes

Skills Required
- 3+ years of experience in sheet metal design and manufacturing using SolidWorks
- 1+ years of sheet metal experience
- Knowledge of food service equipment would be a big bonus
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
Additional Requirements
- Willing to work overtime
- Shift Hours: 5:30 am - 2:30 pm. There are options for a later start, as necessary
