Georgia Tech Office of Development (DEV)
Led by the Vice President for DEV, Jen Howe (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jen-howe/), our fundraising team at Georgia Tech currently consists of 88 professionals who are focused on securing transformative philanthropy (major and principal gifts) to support the strategic priorities of the Institute and its colleges, schools, and programs including Athletics. For fiscal year 2022 (closed 6/30/2022), the DEV team's efforts resulted in over $211 million in new gifts and commitments which helped to publicly launch Georgia Techs largest comprehensive campaign in the Institute's history Transforming Tomorrow: The Campaign for Georgia Tech which is intended to bring over $2 billion in new commitments and gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other organizations. One of the most significant priorities within Transforming Tomorrow is ensuring access of the brightest undergraduate, graduate and professional students to Georgia Tech, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Donor Communications Officer is responsible for preparing correspondence and gift documentation to major donors of GT. Responsible for gift acknowledgement letters, gift listings for publications, and other special communications.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with: donors, staff, faculty, and Office of Development management.
This position typically will advise and counsel: staff and management in Office of Development.
This position will supervise: NA
Job Duty 1 - Administers gift acknowledgement process for donors. Prepare acknowledgement for gifts and commitments, including support materials, under the signature of the appropriate administrator.
Job Duty 2 - Assist with maintaining acknowledgement templates and create original copy to personalize acknowledgement letters as needed.
Job Duty 3 - Manage processes for acknowledging recurring gifts, matching gifts and gifts given in honor or memory.
Job Duty 4 - Oversee management and mailing of Endowment Welcome Packets.
Job Duty 5 - Respond to ad hoc requests to facilitate communications with donors by preparing letters for the President, the Vice President for Development, and other Development staff.
Job Duty 6 - Research, draft, and review gift listings for Development publications.
Job Duty 7 - Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).
Required Experience
Four or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of education and experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with donor stewardship, donor relations, communications, and project management
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree
Salary Range: $26.71- $31.25
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesABILITIES
Demonstrated understanding of the role and process of the development function in a university environment. Demonstrated excellent writing, editing, and verbal skills with previous experience meeting deadlines. Ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with donors, faculty, staff, students, alumni and others. Ability to build and effectively utilize relationships with faculty, staff, and vendors to enable project completion. Strong initiative and self-motivation.
SKILLS
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, including the ability to input or edit information into spreadsheets or data management systems, search and retrieve information, and generate standard reports.
