Overview:
The Director of Marketing & Communications provides leadership and direction of the companys marketing & communications strategy and is accountable for the execution and results of related plans and disciplines. They are tasked with executing functional business plans and contributing to developing the marketing and communications functional strategies. The role directly reports to the VP Engineering and routinely interacts Operations & Function Managers, Executive Management, Professional Staff and Corporate Function Leads; and external clients, customers, and Technical/Professional Advisors.
This role directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems that have implications beyond their function. The Director of Marketing & Communications applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance and influence customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
Marketing Function Leadership: Directs independent oversight of trade shows, promotions, social media, brand strategy, websites, communications, and certain customer events. Develops comprehensive strategies for each area to boost brand engagement and visibility.
Communications: Lead internal and external communications, overseeing public relations efforts, maintaining brand consistency, and coordinating crisis communications when necessary.
Strategic Leadership: Lead and direct the companys marketing & communications strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and contributing to functional and organizational strategies.
Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage vendor agreements supporting marketing efforts, ensuring compliance with pricing, commitments, and other contractual provisions. Includes third-party services critical to marketing operations such as website maintenance, PR distribution, and internal platforms.
Brand Management: Oversee brand consistency across all platforms, ensuring messaging aligns with company values and strategies and resonates with target audiences. Oversee website operations and drive rebranding efforts aligned with evolving business strategies and transactions.
Advertising: Coordinates creative development and manages advertising placements for maximum impact. Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, and content marketing to enhance online presence and business development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments to prioritize marketing initiatives, analyze market information, and disseminate insights to senior management, financial, legal, and operational teams.
Market Analysis: Conduct economic and market evaluations to inform and develop strategic business initiatives and decisions.
Executive Reporting: Prepare and present executive-level reports on marketing and communications projects, strategic recommendations, and market conditions, facilitating informed decision-making at the highest levels.
Executive Thought Leadership: Position company executives as thought leaders through strategic content development, speaking engagements, and industry networking. Assist with publications and presentations approvals and placement.
Global Trade Show Support: Manages logistics for global trade shows to maximize brand exposure and engagement. Oversees trade show asset storage and logistics to ensure readiness for events.
Employee Engagement: Foster internal communication strategies to ensure alignment with external messaging, promoting a unified brand image and company culture. Partner with Human Resources to provide organizational updates and internal news and events.
Crisis Management: Manage crisis communication plans and protocols to manage and mitigate potential reputational risks effectively.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree (BS or BA) in marketing, communications or business required
- Typically, 15-20 years since first degree and 10+ years of relevant marketing & communications experience
- Project management experience from inception to execution
- Experience in corporate marketing and communications required
- Knowledge of CB&I products and/or industry markets and clients/customers preferred
