Job Title: Marketing and Communication Coordinator

Position Reports to: Chief Development Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing all marketing and communication strategies for Covenant House Florida. This role is integral in enhancing the organizations brand, expanding its reach and awareness, engaging stakeholders and donors through various media channels including but not limited to; social media content creation, print marketing, public relations and electronic communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Covenant House Florida reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following:

• Work with the Chief Development Officer to develop, implement and manage an annual strategic communications plan to meet fundraising goals and increase awareness of Covenant House Florida using multiple platforms and media/marketing channels.

• Collaborate with the leadership team to identify and prioritize marketing needs and initiatives

• Responsible for creation of high-quality, professional and engaging content across all Covenant House Florida’s social media platforms.

• Responsible for managing and updating content on Covenant House Florida website including regular updates to donors, supporters and corporate partners.

• Analyze digital metrics, make recommendations and adjust strategies to improve engagement and reach.

• Create and prepare content for digital newsletter, e-mail marketing, press releases and printed materials.

• Work with the Chief Development Officer to develop marketing and sponsorship materials for all fundraising events and activities.

• Engage with donors, volunteers and community partners through targeted communications

• Effectively communicates to and recognizes per the stewardship plan members of the community, corporations, and stakeholder groups regularly.

• Be on-site for corporate and donor led activities at Covenant House Florida for photos, interviews and general assistance.

• Attend community events that align with building our brand awareness and elevate our work and highlight our partnerships within the community

• Researches and recommends public speaking, program presentation and other PR opportunities to the Chief Development Officer and the Chief Executive Officer

• Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts to secure coverage for activities and initiatives.

• Work with the Chief Development Officer to develop and monitor the annual budget for marketing and communications.

• Ensure consistent application of Covenant House Florida brand guidelines across all communications and marketing materials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of working experience in communications required. Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred. Experience in written content creation, digital marketing and social media management.

SCHEDULE: Position is typically scheduled Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day. The schedule does require flexibility to meet needs of the Organization. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

SKILLS FOR SUCCESS: Strong verbal, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, observe, and interact well with diverse individuals and groups. Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (social media, email marketing, content management systems, etc.)

Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, marketing management systems (Constant Contact), and internet-based programs.

Experience with media relations and public relations. Self-starter and goal oriented. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Creative problem-solving skills with focus on efficient execution while balancing big-picture thinking. Strong project management and organization skills, with a keen eye for detail. Passion for serving our youth and ending youth homelessness.

TRANSPORTATION Must have a valid FL driver’s license and good driving record. This position requires the incumbent to travel to support Covenant House Florida’s marketing opportunities in Florida.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work occasionally in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion, bend, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Some weekend/holiday work may be required.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

EQUIPMENT USED: Must be proficient in usage of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Office Suite, marketing management systems, social media platforms, and internet-based programs.


Due to licensing requirements, Covenant House Florida applicants will not be permitted to begin employment service until they have been cleared by a Florida and national criminal background search. All applicants for employment will be responsible for the cost associated with instituting background checks and will be eligible for reimbursement after 90 days of service.
