Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for NCC. Under the supervision of the Corporate Controller, the Accountant is directly responsible for general ledger accounting and other finance and accounting duties assigned.

The Accountant assists the Corporate Controller in implementing operating policies and procedures; research, interprets, and documents accounting issues; assists with the annual audit; maintains high standards for effective and efficient departmental practices, processes, and controls; provides high level of departmental/subsidiary relations and service; assists with internal reporting requirements; and ensures compliance with NCC policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Record monthly transactions in accordance with GAAP and within department-stated timelines for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, debt, intercompany transactions, shareholder liabilities, and other transactions as needed.

Perform monthly financial close activities.

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts ensuring balances appropriately stated and reconciling items are cleared timely.

Maintain a high degree of accuracy for all deliverables.

Assist with enhancement of department processes to promote efficiency and ensure internal control compliance.

Assist with year-end audit including (but not limited to) preparation of audit schedules; addressing on-going audit inquires in a timely and efficient manner; and preparing supporting documentation for financial statements footnote disclosures.

Follow policies and procedures; complete administrative task correctly and on time.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in from a 4-year college or university in Accounting or Finance is required.

Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

Strong aptitude for quickly and efficiently grasping new systems and processes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and willingness to accept responsibility for projects/processes.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Effective organizational and time management skills; ability to apply common sense.

High level of integrity and dependability with a sense of urgency and results orientation.

Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including, but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Ability to pass all background requirements.

Preferred

CPApreferred and public accounting experience is desirable

Experience with Vista View Point, Deltek CostPoint and Cognos reporting system
