HarperOne, an imprint of the HarperOne Group at HarperCollins Publishers, seeks a dynamic, motivated, and detail-oriented Assistant Publicist to join the Publicity team. The ideal candidate is curious to learn about earned media and event planning and will be an active participant in various aspects of bringing our books to the attention of consumers. The candidate must be highly organized, an excellent writer and communicator, work well under pressure and on deadlines, and work independently and with others.

This position reports to and supports the Executive Director of Publicity and supports the Director of Publicity within the HarperOne Group publicity department. This role will be based in our New York Office. The Assistant Publicist is required to work in the New York office in accordance with HarperCollins Publisher's hybrid working model which is currently three days in the office per week.

Responsibilities

* Assist the Executive Director of Publicity and Director of Publicity with publicity campaigns

* Draft press releases, pitch letters, promotional materials and build media lists

* Coordinate author schedules, arrange author travel, and occasionally escort authors to NYC-area events and media where appropriate

* Research media outlets and generate media contact lists, books events, and media.

* Coordinate publicity mailings for book campaigns.

* Pitch media and author events with supervision

* Tracks campaign-specific budgets

* Work toward independently owning and managing projects

* Administrative tasks include creation of seasonal roundups and catalogs, updating the publicity database, compiling campaign results, and processing invoices.

Qualifications

* College degree or equivalent experience

* Prior publishing or public relations internship experience a plus

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.

* Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time-management skills.

* Experience and interest in nonfiction genres including personal development, spirituality, religion, wellness and healthy living

* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe. AI programs a plus.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively

* Able to attend local author events and media interviews.

* Is passionate about our books, working with authors, media and booksellers.

The salary for this position is $48,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
