Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Reporting: Manager, Process and Design Engineering
Mission of the position: To inspire our Customer engineers to escape the ordinary through design, fabrication, commissioning, and startup of world class process filtration & purification systems. Supporting Mott’s Process Systems business, this role will be the Mechanical Designer, supporting our operations by designing filtration equipment, creating detailed drawings, and facilitating the procurement and manufacturing process. With our outsourced manufacturing model, this role plays a key part in expediting the completion of drawings and models, to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow to get purchasing and production underway. Process Systems projects include system design, process integration, and startup and commissioning of filtration and separation equipment for process industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, Power and more. The right candidate for this role is results focused, has a strategic mindset and is detail oriented.

This position is based in Plymouth, MI . Compensation package includes base salary, bonus, and 401k match. This is once in a lifetime opportunity to drive positive change and work in a dynamic, bureaucracy-free environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Completing work requests, continuously reprioritizing deliverables.
Participation in team meetings to help brainstorm solutions.
Work with Engineers and Vendors to build equipment, new fixturing, skid designs, etc.
Communication with Vendors on purchase order requirements or clarification requests as needed.
Releasing standard BOM and being accountable for design and ordered parts.
Collaboration with customer and other teams in creating required documents, facility layouts, and other required design documents as needed.
Develop processes, procedures, and instructions to facilitate the work as needed.
Major Challenges:
Indirectly support and prioritize work.
Find ways, such as parametric modeling to decrease drawing and design time.
Work independently and have the process and discipline to self-check your work.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple deliverables and deadlines.
Expected Performance Outcomes:
Maintain a drawing cycle time for new machine (depending on size) and have no/zero to none errors in BOM and zero missing important dimensions on drawings.
Standardize drawings and maintain a drawing database in correct folder structure.
Be responsive to changes, emails, manufacturing needs and communicate effectively to update design and drawing statuses.
Required Experience:
Modeling and Drafting using 3D software (Inventor) and working with file management software (Vault).
Ability to release BOM in ERP in standard format.
Manufacturing experience.
Filtration process knowledge to design per system
Ability to draw P&IDs using AUTOCAD.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years modeling and drafting experience.
Skills:
Advanced understanding of 3D modeling and drawings using Inventor
Practical understanding of Vault Professional
Prior experience in ASME Sec. 8 Vessels design, Piping layout and ISOs, Process skid design and detailing
Personal Attributes:
Self-directed, results driven, detail oriented and analytical thinker
Ability to shift tasks without losing focus or momentum
Discipline to check work and identify mistakes
