The Editorial Director is an integral role on the 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC. creative team, bringing to life story ideas that advance our mission as a relationships-focused organization.

This person is a nimble, out-of-the-box thinker who wants to deeply understand, develop, and evolve 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC.'s voice across our channels and who will use that knowledge to create engaging, effective content. The ideal candidate has worked as a top editor and lead writer in lifestyle living magazines (Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Real Simple, Martha Stewart) and for brands like Madewell, Warby Parker, J.Crew, Kate Spade, etc.

Responsibilities Breakdown:

Seasonal Campaigns

  • Build out Messaging strategy from campaign theme waterfalling down to service & Promo examples.
  • Write Seasonal Deck of examples for teams and agencies to use to execute.
  • Build out Campaign Storytelling for omni channel participation.

Marketorial Calendar

  • Ideate seasonal storytelling into marketing Homepage & email Calendar.
  • Partner with Creative team to understand storytelling assets needed.
  • Conceptualize & plan out all emails content with collaboration with marketing and merchandising.
  • Collaborate with Social and content teams (enterprise roles) on shared calendar and ideas.
  • Edit heads and decks of emails.

Branding

  • Set tone/language for the voice of the Marketing Assets. Develop positioning messaging that explains services.
  • Position, Name & message new Product brands going to market.
  • Oversee writing of SKU descriptions for customer understanding.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a top editor and lead writer in lifestyle living magazines (Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Real Simple, Martha Stewart) and for brands like Madewell, Warby Parker, J.Crew, Kate Spade, etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to work efficiently within operational considerations (timing, budgets, etc.), navigating ambiguity and managing team to deliver excellence within specific requirements.
  • Collaborative spirit and an ability to work well in a matrixed environment with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to take an idea from concept to completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, on deadline.

The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
