Posting Number SP004665P Position Title Communication Strategist III Division/College Student Affairs Department Dean of Students Location Moscow Posting Context Statement This position will develop and manage strategic direction of marketing, publicity, promotion, and communication across various media channels within the Division of Student Affairs. They will implement public relations strategies to enhance the organization's programs and services, collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute special event programming, coordinate involvement in campus-wide events, and oversee Student Affairs events and services tailored to meet the needs of the student community. Position Overview This position serves as the chief content and channels strategist for a unit or multiple units advising on - and developing - internal and external messaging strategy. They will serve as the unit's liaison for leveraging and activating strategies in partnership with University Communications & Marketing (UCM) and will advance the university's brand strategy through the unit lens. The incumbent understands, coordinates, and leverages central communication and marketing initiatives into the unit as applicable and contributes to the university's broader content strategy. Duties may include: Advance the unit's reputation through public relations strategies that drive purposeful messaging and engagement in support of the unit's strategic goals, priorities and initiatives Provide communications and marketing leadership in a variety of priorities across a variety of areas Write and edit a variety of content in digital and print formats Identifying and executing marketing opportunities withing the university marketing strategy Attend UCM meetings as a contributor and as a representative of the unit Other duties as assigned Unit URL https://www.uidaho.edu/student-affairs/dean-of-students/staff Position Qualifications Required Experience Four years of experience in marketing, communications, journalism or public relations experience Using market analysis and measurement to drive strategy Building communication strategies through multiple channels Managing multiple projects with competing deadlines that require accuracy and attention to detail Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations; four additional years of experience (for a total of seven) may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree Required Other None Additional Preferred Master's Degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism Experience in utilizing content management systems (CMS) to publish and manage web content, ensuring that the unit's website remains up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with organizational objectives including navigating CMS platforms, creating and formatting web pages, uploading multimedia content and optimizing content for search engine visibility Experience in producing and editing a variety of informational and persuasive collateral, such as reports, newsletters, case studies, white papers and marketing materials Experience crafting compelling narratives, refining messaging for audiences, and adhering to brand standards and style guidelines Experience in developing, executing and evaluating comprehensive communications plans and initiatives aimed at achieving organizational goals and objectives which includes conducting research, identifying key communication channels, crafting strategic messaging, implementing tactics and analyzing outcomes to measure impact and effectiveness Experience in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, faculty, students, alumni, community partners and vendors Experience in applying the Associated Press (AP) style guide to business documents, ensuring consistency and professionalism in written communications Experience adhering to guidelines for grammar, punctuation, spelling and formatting to maintain credibility and readability Experience in working within the higher education, health, or recreation fields Experience in translatinginformation into language for public consumption, bridging the gap between complex concepts and lay audiences, involving distilling complex ideas, jargon, or data into clear and concise messaging that enhances understanding and engagement Physical Requirements & Working Conditions None Degree Requirement Listed degree qualification is required at time of application Posting Information FLSA Status Exempt Employee Category Exempt Pay Range $57,865 annually or higher depending on education and experience Type of Appointment Fiscal Year FTE 1.0 Full Time/Part Time Full Time Funding A visa sponsorship is available for the position listed in this vacancy.
